wen i was changing my ISP, i had site5 and dreamhost in my list, i went for site5
but lately i have been experiencing lots of downtime, my site techbirbal.com is down now for 15 hrs now and wen it works its so damn slow. But wen it was up, it was way above my expectation, mayb i m frustrated with them, so i may b a little biased now.

    Chk Dreamhost with other guyz.

All seems good to me, also I hope all have their forums, you could get some more idea about them if you visit their forums too.

site5, Dreamhost, Hostrocket, Mediatemple...all of them overselling resources BIG TIME.

My best advice when choosing a host is to use common sense and not be fooled by empty promises. There is no such thing than unlimited bandwidth, if you see someone offering unlimited bandwidth run as far away from that company as you possibly can. Do the same if a company offers terabytes of bandwidth, tons of discspace, anything that sounds just too good to be true. Another good thing to check is terms of service and that those are available and easy to find from hosting provider's site. In this case site5 and hostrocket doesn't offer terms of service for possible customers to read. Mediatemplate does and as I said they are not even planing to provide promised resources to you...see:

dreamhost provides terms of service, but those only address one issue: dreamhost doesn't guarantee a single thing.

Personally, neither of those look too good, have a look at visage hosting or asmallorange.

I recommend surpasshosting.com I've had a server, vps, and reseller accounts with them. Still do have some, as I've canceled two due to my own finacual needs.

    I'd give them a 5/5 - High Customer Care

I've been with Site5 and Dreamhost for about a year now, and I have no complaints at all. I used to use MidPhase, but it crashed almost daily...

Never go with Hostrocket! Many years ago they gave the boot to one of my sites, saying it abused apache connections, and never returned my many months of pre-payment! I will never forget that.
First time I was put down from any place. Never had any problems with any hoster, and I've used dozens.

My suggestions are: LunarPages, Dreamhost, Servage and Hostgator

I'd suggest AsmallOrange.com, though they do not offer much...they do not oversell like other hosts such as Dreamhost, and they don't kick you off their server, because your website is using to much resources...they move you onto a less used server.

Dreamhost - Major Overseller, I've heard a lot of bad story's about DreamHost...so that can only mean trouble.
