I had terrible experiences with hosts (mysitespace are real scumbags, for example) I am now with Micfo.com and couldn't be happier. The most important thing for me is good support, and these guys are great. If you have any problem your trouble ticket will be answered in 15 minutes or less (they have always answered mine in 10 minutes, even at 4:30 a.m.)
I use webair and its very great, if you are looking for a host go to www.webair.com and then just signup, support is very great its just super
I've been using Lunarpages for a couple of years now, and I'm quite happy with their services and customer support.. No major issues with them at all. 1000mb space and 40gb bandwidth, from 7.95$ and up pr month. You can find some more stats if you follow my signature link..
Hi, Do you need shared hosting or reseller hosting? Linux or Windows? I would suggest to have a look at http://www.webhostingtalk.com that might help you to search for some decent host. My suggestion would be to prepare a exhaustive list of host (Say 30-35) from following sources: - Web hosting Directories - search engines google, dmoz, forums, etc - findmyhosting.com - hostsearch.com Once you have the list of say 30-35 prepared, - check their websites - Check their third party uptime stats - send them presales questions - Check their availability and responsivenes Prepare a score card, eliminate 15, now you are left with 15 With these 15: - Search google/forums, for reviews on them (Read every review) - Seek opinions from people who responded to such threads - Again send them presales questions, this time pretty tough and detail ones - Ask host to refer to some of their existing client Based on your score, eliminate 10, you are left with 5 Now make your decision. Remember, final decision is yours! I can suggest you following Host to look at: HostGator Sonotaweb.net Dathorn httpme beachcomber.com site5.com Hope above helps you to select best host for you.
In my opinion you could not do much better than http://www.diyhosting.ca/ and remember the prices are in canadian dollars and in my opinion you could not do much worse than ipowerweb - DO Not even consider them IMHO.
http://www.fusionxhost.com Its a host I admin, and I (as well as the rest of the staff) have tried to keep it at minmal downtime, and so far in the past month or two we've only been down once for about 5 minutes. http://paid.fusionxhost.com/step_one.php?gid=1&xpid=1&referrer_id=1 - there are all the paid packages, but you can get free hosting simply by posting in the forum [ http://forums.fusionxhost.com ]. Honestly speaking, its very difficult to find true ranking. Word of mouth knowledge is the one, that is important. Also, you yourself have to put some effort to find a good host for you. But findmyhosting.com to some extent gives some true ranking. I would suggest, prepare your shortlist and then lets reveiw. Do send presales questions to all (This is important) Note: have your detailed specs and requirements always ready with you.
for shared hosting I recommend http://www.webhost4life.com But I am not the expert in the advanced hosting field. However we are now having an exclusive contract with a server provider and sitetutorhosting.com is now it's own nameserver where we host our own clients. I think someone here should start a good hosting review site where ppl vote. The sites which rank highest for hosting terms in Google seem to be the ones I hear the most complaints about
I've been with Verio for a long time more than 4 years. I know I could find cheaper but I've never noticed my site down. Plus I'm emailed about any hack attempts & they clean anything up if something does happen. This is only an option if you are doing business on your site.
I had a terrible experience using Surpass Hosting. Their servers were constantly laggy and my site suffered constant down time! Last month I switched hosts however to AbsHost and it seems pretty good quality and I ain't paying too much for the service. You should check them out --- http://www.abshost.net I thouroughly recommend them!
You guys could try www.etp.ro It's a friend of mine. Has one dual xeon, and several P4 servers, 2 gb ram, serial ata. As for internet connectivity, dual fiber connections, totaling 15 Mbps.
I'll second Foxy on www.diyhosting.ca have been fantastic, great prices and I'm just about to move another of my domains other to them. Not only saving a fortune, but getting a lot more for less € £ $ Ian
Had a really great experience with Site5 so far. They were recommended to me on these forums, and I'm very pleased. Always answer support emails within 15 mins, reliable, and pretty fast too considering I'm using a shared hosting plan. (Though you never know what the future holds with shared hosting, hehe). Been with them for about 5 months, best host I've had out of 5-6.
I use and love MidPhase.com. They have excellent phone, email, and trouble ticket support. This site is hosted by them: http://www.afterhim.com Feel free to use my affiliate link at the bottom of that page I also use dathorn.com for my reseller account that allows me to host unlimited domains. I currently use 3 different hosts, no major complaints with any: aplus.net - hosts my largest site. This was the first host I ever signed up, I have since read about a lot of people who have problems with them. For me I have never had a single problem. I've had to call tech support a couple times and received a prompt response to my problem. I will probably leave this site here until it needs a dedicated server. godaddy - I host one site here on their cheapest plan. It is simple, no frills hosting, you pretty much get what you pay for. My only complaint is there is no access to the raw log files without paying an extra $1.50 a month for traffic facts. dreamhost.com - I just signed up with them for an incredibly low price for a year of hosting. I currently have one site there but plan to put more there just because it is cost effective. Although I would never trust this company with anything really important. I learned they have a bug when making a change to their control panel can bring your site down for a couple hours.
I use Myself LOL Jokes aside though, I have been on hosting plans which are local in nature. never really tried international webhosts. Maybe i am paranoid... ... but the local companies i have been on are my ISP and also another local hosting company where they almost have a staff on the online help desk 24/7 Phone calls too Always love to call them in the middle of the night when things go wrong Must be becoming a bad habit..... Cost wise, its not so effective because most local companies charge a higher price because of the support they provide.
