So they've got the economy, deluxe, and premium plans. I am trying to put together a product and service review site which will have a small handful of subdirectories, one for each product or service. I suppose I'll have a small handful of images, a side menu or something to that effect to navigate a bit, and links, is all. This is my first foray into website purchasing and I'm quite daft about the whole thing, tho. Those monthly costs will add up so I obviously want the cheapest one which can handle my needs. Suggestions? https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosting/shared.asp?app_hdr=&ci=5652
No host is perfect, but I've had pretty good luck with GoDaddy overall. One place where they do shine is the ability to upgrade your hosting plan quickly and easily. You get full credit for any balance remaining on your contract when you upgrade. So my advice would be to start with the Economy Plan and pay for 1-2 years in advance to save a little up front. The next step up is the Deluxe Plan, which gives you 15 times more storage for just 50% more per month, but you may well not need it. File storage is probably the most critical aspect for a site like yours, and 10 GB compared to 150 GB doesn't seem like much, but if you're careful to optimize your graphics files and remove old files when they're no longer in use, it can be oceans of room. This way you're not overpaying for services you're not using, and then when the day comes when its just not enough room, you can upgrade painlessly. Good luck!
godaddy is costly man try hostgator you get unlimited websites for hosting and bandwidth is really huge i can provide you discount to pm me if you want
I'm currently using GoDaddy's Deluxe plan for my blog. It's brand new so I can't talk about the space and all that, but overall I'm ok with their services, the way how the setup-up is very fast for each site, database etc etc. I never go for the cheapest plan. My politics. So went for Deluxe from the start.
I am using Deluxe plan for couple of my sites and it's ok, I don't have any complaints. I was using Economy at first, because I have only one site, but then I needed a host for my other site and I decided to go for Deluxe plan.
I have a bit of confusion on this, so do you pay the monthly hosting charges for each and every site you own or do they all go under one umbrella with your hosting company and I just missed that somewhere?
No, I'm paying about $8 for all sites that I own, I have one control panel and one ftp that I use to access to all sites. All at GoDaddy ... I am quite happy with this.
Dont use Godaddy if you're going to run scripts or use databases, etc. They SUCK with their stupid control panel software.
Deluxe offers the possibility to host "unlimited" websites on the same plan. All the sites share the same space and bandwidth, which means, your total is distributed as necessary among your hosted websites. When you create a hosting account, you'll have the possibility to point each domain to a folder on you server like mydomain.com will point to the folded [mydomain]. You get the point. And in that directory you do your thing. Good luck and make the best choice! @sitefever, what do you mean? I'm running my own WordPress on it and runs just fine, with permalinks and all that. And when I needed support, in about 16hours I had my reply, which is fast considering the huge amount of inquiries they must hav. Anyway, I don't want it to sound like advertising. It's just that I had no problem with them, until now at least.
For a single domain the Economy is all you need unless you excessive disk and bandwidth requirements. The only reason to move up is if you want to host more domains or need the space and bandwidth. Since you are a newbie the average site uses less than 50MB of disk space and a gigs of bandwitdth per month. Over-selling is all the rage now. Godaddy is okay, there may be better deals out there.
well i have the deluxe plan with 100 Gb of space and 1 Tb of bandwith .. i have this hosting for almost 2 years and i NEVER had a problem with it ... it is great!
Yes, Godaddy is fine for static sites. Dynamic sites that use heavy scripting and databases is another story...
Which version of IIS should I choose, 6 or 7? They said if i want to deal with front page extensions, i should do 6, does this have anything to do with automated email capturing programs such as Aweber or could someone shine some light on this because I'm not sure where to go here?
I started with economy and still on economy with them, in time il upgrade when i need to, i so often read people saying this host sucks, that host sucks, to be honest its one of those things, not every customer is going to be happy, virtually every company has some dissatisfied customers. Depends what type of site your running too.
