One good free web design program is Nvu, here is the link http://www.nvu.com/

The best web design program is Adobe Dreamweaver, but it's a paid program.

i believe one of the best its Note Pad, but everybody just wants a wysiwyg like dreamweaver or nvu.

learn to code in hand and do it on note pad.

    I'm using Dreamweaver 8 and it's great!
I love using library and template function in DW8.

My vote is for Nvu or Mozilla as far as free.
    Paid...perhaps...Xsite Pro is worth considering.

I am used to Nvu and prefer it over front page, which is good but I am used to Nvu, I like it, and have not had a problem with it. Perhaps I am just not creative enough to require more-Grin. It is free and easy to download...try and see. Good Luck.

    Much Success,

Not at all. I do everything with textpad at home (www.textpad.com), and just have it set up so it colors all my code nicely. If I'm at an agency they'll usually be using dreamweaver. It has its advantages, but even then, most of the designers I've worked don't use the WYSIWYG features.

If you learn to code by hand it'll save you hours problem solving in the long run. Of course it's also sensible to create yourself some basic html / css pages so you can just take the style you want and adapt accordingly.

    Dreamweaver is the best

I started using notepad when I still new into html
    Then I moved to frontpage
    And then to Expression

If youre still a novice in web design, try MS frontpage or expression first
