So I like Google adword keyword tool but it only shows the competition as low/med/high. Which free tool is out there that shows the competition in numbers?
There are so many keyword research tools: webmaster-toolkit Google Adword wordtracker but Google Adword is the best tool..
Google AdWords shows competition but not in numbers. I need a tool that gives me numbers. What's "low" according to Google? 5K, 50K, 500K?
ohh, thanks for sharing information about google adwords, i didn't know abour it. I use google. I enter the keywords as simple query.
google adword is your best bet, if you want to go beyond competition and see how you can rank well for certain keywords- I will advice Microniche finder - Its a great tool
Google's tool only shows Adwords advertiser competition and not the number of competing pages, however often times they kinda mirror each other. For keywords that have enough searches using Google's keyword tool you can do a search at Google using quotes ("keyword"), allintitle, allinurl, etc. as some suggest. But JMO competition numbers isn't the best way to determine competition. You're only competing for the first page, unless there's an unusually high search volume competition numbers don't matter. A better way is to analyze the first page of the SERPs using MarketSamurai, TrafficTravis (free version) or the Firefox browser with SEOQuake and SearchStatus addon (use 3.6 not the latest version).
If i understand your question correctly, you could benefit from using Traffic Travis. Just get the free version and that is all you will need. All you do is put in your keyword and it tells you if it will be easy, medium, or hard to rank for it.
