You can get a decent host for Wordpress for as little as $2.50 P/M though. The custom plug-ins etc on WP are fantastic.

Blogger man myself, but I can't say how much worse or better the others are.
I like the fact picture hosting is free and unlimited and the template is easily modified.

Yep. I'm a blogger man too! I love the way you can set it up pretty much how you want it. Just takes a bit of coding knowledge to do it.

I didn't need any more reason to start blogging on it. :D

Honestly it is hard to imagine depending on a third party service or putting my content on someone else’s domain. Don’t you want that fresh content attached to your domain?

Of the free hosted solutions I’ve found that I get higher listings in Google and more participation from my Live Journal accounts than anything that I ever put on Blogger.

Wordpress gives you awesome control over the template- provided you know HTML and CSS, and make your own :-p

My personal best is Wordpress hosted on your own, followed by Blogger.

I set up my Wordpress blog relatively painlessly in a few hours. Before I did that, I had never even used FTP before.

The plugins are simply awesome and once you have it up it seems to run effortlessly. I'm still working on my design a bit (the header is boring as hell and my buttons don't work :( ) but I'll have it ironed out this weekend.

Be all end all: It's my opinion that hosting your own WP blog is the way to go for total control over design, content, etc.
