Most say Blogger, but to be honest if you do the right amount of link building, on page SEO and nothing blackhat, you'll be able to rank with any of them.

I see more people using Blogger, no personal experience with it. I use freewebs myself.

It's not the template or format that get's you in the top 10. It's writing a decent article that has a proper title and keywords that get's you listed well. Doing some social bookmarking and the like will help also.

True. It doesn't matter which you use, as long as you know your SEO.

But, I have seen Squidoo pages come up a ton of times in Google.

But... a BlogSpot blog does rank #1 (or #2) for "make money online"

    You choose.

Blogger. It's owned by Google, but you need to stay within Blogger rules and think hard of what your blog will consist of. If you keep changing the name a bazillion times, blogger will suspend your account for 21 days. Happened to me.

If you just put advertisements on your blog and no posting yet, google can suspend your blogger account. Happened to me.

A trick I use to help me decide how to make an SEO friendly blog is by going to "google keyword tool" and typing in a generic word for a particular niche. Click on the pull-down menu to get an estimated cost per click as well as searches per month. Don't worry about competition. Look at all the keywords associated and if they're getting 5 digit, 6 digit or even seven digit searches, I would probably somehow incorporate those keywords into your blog some way somehow. Those same keywords also help Adsense determine what kind of PPC ads they can put on your site, if you've signed up for an Adsense account which I highly recommend. Google won't tell you exactly what percentage per click they give you, but the general rule of thumb is for a $0.05 click, you get $0.02 - $0.03. I usually estimate 40%.

The next thing you want to do after you've made a couple posts is submit your blog to Technorati, pingoat, feedburner, or any other blog directories you find (preferably for free). Ensure you post at least once a week. You can still squidoo and hubpge on a topic to get traffic to your site or bog, but make sure the articles in the blog and the article you write on Squidoo don't look exactly the same. Google doesn't do the duplicate content thing.

    Hope that helps.
