You will love it more when you actually buy one.
Its so easy to manage, so easy to configure what you want its really the out of box product for all communities.
Every other Forum software simply copies VB features :)

I've had a PHPBB forum, and I must say the administration back end is very disappointing, compared to the screenshots I've seen of vBulletin. I'll definitely be using the software later on in the future, can't wait to get my hands on it :)

No You can have one installation per license if you want to install more then you need to buy more licenses.
You can find more about this at vbulletin.com

Its 160$ not 180$, you can have a leased license which costs about 80$ a year, after which you need to renew or uninstall your forum.
To start with try leased one, if you really like it then within one month of purchase you can pay another 80 and upgrade it to owned license.

vBulletin exclusively. If I want to start a new forum, I automatically assume the $150 licensing fee into my budget. :)

I have 6 vBulletin forums currently.
