Then you'd be missing out on great or better software like IPB and smaller free forums that meet specific needs of other people.

PHPBB3 is the most advantageous forum software. It provides too many different facilities such as, sub forums management, cashing (this will make your forum much more faster) etc. Furthermore PHPBB is a very common forum software and you can find converter to any other forum softwares; this means that whenever you want you can change it.

Your welcome , its not got many mods at the moment , but thay have started adding mods like rep , shop, points ect

The admin section uses ajax in some parts pritty neat as you can move your forums around using it , your able to add sub forums , and lots more.

I have it set up on my newest project TalkProxys.com if you wont to take a look , or just go to AEF site to see there forum.

    Tony84,

You said you implemented Adsense to your MyBB. How do you do that. I would like to add it to the top of each thread.

    Thanks

Last time I used Snizt forum but it is not good because someone hacked it and replaced my logo with their own logo. Then I moved to Simple Machines Forum. It is really nice I think but if you use default theme, you can use any add on it has. But if you use other themes from other people, you'll need to do a lot of works.
I do not build a tech forum but I also install an add on which called Download system... I think it is very suitable for your forum.

Has phpbb3 still got the spamming problems that phpbb2 had? I had at least 10 spam posts a day on my phpbb2 forum.

I have quite a big project in mind - and was thinking about phpbb3 for the forum, or should I spend the cash and go VB? (sorry to hijack this thread!)

There's an inline AdSense plug-in. Look at the myBB web site.

    Get vBulletin.
You won't regret making the decision.

PS: Get an owned license, rather than a leased one.

I must admit, I cannot think of one single time any of my SMF forums have had spam posted on them.

PunBB is great, the lightest and fastest one, also is really easy to modify.

    hi

If you see many popular forums they would be using vbulletin or phpbb.

Just like this DP forum is using vbulletin so you can have same feature that dp has, you might need to hire webmaster to make changes..

also go to google and yahoo, type topic that you want to have forum for, such as if you want to have your forum for "webmaster forum" "teens forum" "software and hardware forum" etc.. now you will get lots result about your topic, just choose top 10 and see what they are using.

    i hope that helps..

    It isn't that great...

Free forum, the best is either SMF or phpBB3

Paid, vBulletin and IPB are both absolutly great.
