Which forum software is best?

    I had an old PHPBB forum which got shut down because my host got antsy about holes in the software, even though I patched it.
    I am looking to resurect my forum.
    I was just wondering, which software should I use this time around.
    PHPBB again
    VB, and is it worth the fee. (i dont want to spend much)
    or something else.

    All feedback appreciated.

    punbb is the best ... then nothing else till some 100th place and then Vbulletin probably :D

    WIll it take PHPBB ddatabases, can it output XML/RSS feed and is it easy to skin and mod?

    Yes there is converter for punbb for couple of forum softwares.... and yes it outputs xml/rss feed ;) ... You can check mine at http://www.goalchat.com

    It looks a little bare for my tastes.
    I wasd thinking of using PHPBB again but I have heard that Invasion is good, and a lot of people like VB
    I also spotted some security alerts for punbb.
    Which is easiest to mod?

    that got me worried.

    Also finding hosting that provide tech support for punBB looks kind of hard.
    I am looking at dreamhosts and PHPBB and Lunarpages with SMF
    trying to decide which is better.
    Got to find out will they let me import my PHPBB forum database.
    if anyone knows I would love to know.

    Vulnerabilities from 2005 :D You are kiddin me ;) ..... check out for other forum software ....I bet all other forums were hacked more times than pubbb and are way more critical than punbb .... well check out their web site forupdates and their forum and see how many times punbb was hacked ...then go to official websites of other forums and check out there users complaining about I was hacked today :D

    punbb.org ... is also great for finding support....every troubleshooting is answered ..... I don't see any difference here with smf let's say .... I checked smf and punbb forums for that ;)
