I know you guys may have seen this questions asked a million times already.

What I want to know is:

    > if I find a keyword/phrase that seems to be searched very high globally (say over 10K exacts p.mth) with a high CPC of $10, I would expect to rank high if I had a domain with the KW in mind. Right? If I can't get the .com's, .net's or org's, then what would you suggest to get next?

If possible, could you please rank them in order of your preference? For example, from what I have gathered (from Sedo sales) is:
    .com
    .net
    .org
    .info
    .biz
    .ws
    .us
    .tv
    .asia

would this be the best rank? What say you matey?:D

    can go like this

    .com
    .net
    .org
    .de
    .co.uk
    .info
    .biz
    .tv
    .us
    .in
    .pl

and it goes but cctlds take over the priority depending on the users origin

    cool. Thanks Chandan.:)
Which would you personally choose if it were between:
    .us
    .ws
    .asia
    .me
    ????

This is actually what I'm faced with right now with the above selection, but I don't know which one to get?

Which one would you choose first?

Following the same format of previous post:
    .us
    .me
    .asia
    .ws

Would be my preferred choices. Chandan brings up a valid point that a CCTLD would take priority based on where the user's location is. I'm American, but because of my current situation.. certain sites automatically redirect me to the nearest country of origin TLD for them which is co.uk. I'm deployed to Afghanistan, and I guess Amazon doesn't have a TLD for the Middle East =p Google also does the same thing, though I've had theirs switch between the Kuwait extension and the British.

I would pick a CCTLD based on some research of the country of origin with the highest search results for that particular keyword. So if Germans tend to research the search terms "hitler is great," i'd get a .de.

I also disagree with chandan123's priority of the original list of domain names. Given a choice, these would be my preference:
    .com
    .net
    .org
    .co.uk
    .us
    .biz
    .de
    .info
    .tv
    .in
    .pl

In my opinion, .info and .tv are dead extensions. Very few large sites exist or gain quick popularity using those domain names compared to the top five on the list. The highest rated .tv domain name is: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/justin.tv Check out the ratings around the world, it's pretty interesting. In China, that site's rating drops tremendously. It'd be interesting to note if this is common for all .TV extensions in China or just this one website.

    Cheers.

Thanks allot for that BFTB. That was very informative and helpful.

There still seems to be a difference in opinions re: the 4 domain extn's mentioned above. I know you say ccTLD's are more preferable than a normal TLD in the case of regional searches (even though I don't get the tech side of things), but why would you choose the .me extn over the .ws in this case? The reason I'm asking is that a .me is more personalised, whereas the .ws is an all-purpose extn (standing for .WebSite. Even though it really stands for Western Samoa). I've had good success in getting some .ws domains of mine to rank higher than some other TLD's out there. In fact, in some cases I outranked many .com's.

    Regards,
