Just started a couple of medium size projects..now the thing is i don't want to go ahead and book ALL the extensions of that domain but want to at least book the important once

Can you'll suggest me the must have extensions? :)

    Regards

    .com, .net, and .org.
After that, unless it's a really specific and marketable domain to someone besides you, then the others, except maybe .co.uk, are worthless to any one else.
You will have blocked them out.
Kinda like a zone defense in Basketball.

depends on your opinion really and where your from.

There is no doubt that .com is the most important. But being from the UK I would rate .co.uk second personally, followed by .net .info .org

All the above posts are correct, but you should also think about to who you're trying to market your website. If it's for Chinese people, choose .cn , if it's for Swedes, .se . But .com .net & .org are your safest bets, especially .com.

I would say (if your target audience is worldwide) .net would be a good one. If not, then an extension from your country is also fine (unless it's sooo remote that barely anyone is familiar with the extension)

I always purchase *net and *org with *com sites I am developing to become something big. I haven't bothered with the other extensions, but I would if the site became a real category killer.

    i agree.
But today i just said wtf and got the .us and .info also ha.
Namecheap is having a sale on .info so thats cool.

if you get all the major TLD's. then you dont have to worry about someone trying to steal/copy your name.

    Depends on lots of factors.
Lenght, keyword value, usage and so on.
Generally speaking com is most valuable followed by net and org, but sex.aero would be just fine for me :)

Those domains are a must and that's a pretty good idea. Better spend a couple of $$$ then lose a domain that "belongs" to your site.
