osCommerce is by far the best solution I can think of, and the feature you are looking for is this: oscommerce[dot]info/kb/osCommerce/Administration_Tool/Configuration/162

You can also take a look at another ecommerce solution called Magneto. You can PM me in case you need any help to deploy these onto your website

If you want to use cms, try Joomla together with MightyCommerce or Virtuemart

when i checked online, magneto got more popularity if we compare with oscommerce.
when i tried to download both, magneto file size (total) 125mb and oscommerce is only 2-3mb.

First of all is not magneto but Magento.

Second, Magento it's going to have a longer curve to learn since it's more difficult to twist and less modules to integrate. You will have to pay for real support from them. Yeah! they sell the customer service. Their downloadable items feature is new, don't know how good it is, expect some bugs there.

    osCommerce is a bit outdated.

You should go with Zen Cart. Up to date, no security issues and it has the downloadable items feature and also extra security with a redirect feature so people won't have the exact url where it is saved.

Even Magento's documentation book doesn't come free and this is kind of weird!

For selling direct downloads you could try the digital ecommerce shopping cart. It is tailor made for such purposes and a whole lot easier to setup and learn than the previously mentioned since it is streamlined for selling downloadable files.

We have offered osCommerce and ZenCart as one click installs on our hosting packages at sefhost.com for some time, but there is a new kid on the block - OpenCart. Again, it's a one click install and it is really great. Easy to use, SEO friendly, feature rich, easy checkout, good payment gateway support, and easy to modify - install VQMod.
