Which ecommerce script for newbie?

Hi, basically my grandad runs a fireplace shop selling fireplaces and fire surrounds. I've always pushed him to get a website but he doesn't see the point for the expense.

However, if I can do it relitevaly cheaply on my own - I will. Is there any script which is user friendly and has custom themes that I can perhaps buy? Is magento easy to set up once you have a nice theme?

My only worry is - if i fork out $200 of his own money on a nice theme etc he may run the risk of not getting any sales??

Magento is good if you know what you are doing.

 

I have use zen cart before. Its free. Its Fairly easy to setup if you have Php hosting and a mysql database available.
