I've found that a lot of the "good" audio companies ie Bose are outdone in quality vs price ratio by other companies such as Sennheiser. I've used their products for a few years now and the quality blows me away and it's cheaper than Bose.
I think sennheiser earphones is greatest than else. But the price is expensive. Sometimes I would to buy one.
I just received a pair of SoundMAGIC PL10 earphones, which cost me $9.26 shipped from Lightake. And to put it bluntly, they're as good as my old Shure E2cs, which were $100+. They're really comfortable, come with spare S/M/L silicon ear pads, a carry bag, and a cable clip. Go read some reviews on audiophile/headphones forums. These earphones are A BARGAIN. I just bought another pair http://lightake.com/Search.do/Search.soundmagic
I know this is old, but have a look at SoundEarphones.com & search for: Beyerdynamic DT 770 These are what I use.. awesome pair of closed headphones Personally... I think the Dr Dres aren't as good as the pricetag, they're just marketed VERY well
I would highly recommend the Audio Technica ATH-T300. Very good value and incredible sound quality - just check the reviews online.
Phillips is enough for me, balanced frequencies and strong cables (I've been using it for 5 years and had no problems)
