which e-commerce site script?

which e-commerce site script do you recommend? I'm willing to consider paid and free/open source. I'm currently running an old version of CubeCart (3.x) and am considering upgrading or migrating.

Hrmm I never thought of that. Have you much experience with it? Is it good for a store with lots of products ?

I was reading up on VirtueMart for joomla and some of the reviews said it didn't fare too well with high volume or big sites. Any comments about that part of it?

I really appreciate your suggestions but I'm trying to avoid just trying and seeing. I want to install something that will be worth the time to input many products and promote properly without running into problems.

I don't want to install now and then in a month or two have to migrate to another system.

I would go drupal + ubercart (drupal.org and ubercart.com). Drupal was rated #1 open source CMS this year (packtpub dot com) so you know its good and ubercart recently had a nice review about it... cant remember where... google it.

I've also read that they are working on a magento module for drupal. I don't know how have far that has gone yet but you should look into that.

Let us know what your final decision is and if you try multiple systems.... maybe do a quick comparison / review of them.

    Good luck

I definitely plan on publishing a quick review of what I find. I've already installed Magento and I'm going to install Ubercart and Drupal as well so I'll have at least those two to review :)
