This is just an example, but very similar: Let's say I want to rank high for the keyword computer. Computer.com is already registered and also net, org versions. So I would like to go register a variation. Which of the following domains would rank higher with same content? computers.com or computered.com The keyword I want to rank high for does not really have a plural version, but the ...ed.com version would make sense. Also the plural version is much more expensive than the ed version. What would you do?
If your keyword is a noun... than obviously a plural would look good but if it is a real verb, go for adding 'ed'... as simple as that! Regards, RightMan
Thanks for your fast answer, but it is really hard to say if it is a noun, I would say it is like nounverb.com, many think about is as one word, so it would be a noun. But as plural version it makes no sense and it is much more expensive. Plural is about x,xxx$ and ed just xxx$, so I would have much more money to invest in link building.
in choosing a domain, i always check it google keyword tool. check out the difference between computers and computered based on the number of searches. there ya go
I already checked it, it is like(global): keyword 100,000 keywords <10 keyworded <10 So it is all about the one keyword, there is no additional value for one of the both variations regarding exact match searches.
In my opinion It wont make that big difference, both still have the main keyword. If you are worrying that much then you might consider getting both names: +s and +ed. I also found out that plural always worked better for me. Good luck
does it make a real big difference buying computers.com; if yes than how. Please help as i am a noob in domain area.
I'd go for computers in this example but it is afterall, just an example so it's hard to say.. Don't pull out too many hairs over keywords in domains though, my webmaster blog is on page 1 most of the time for 'webmaster blog' and the domain isn't even a word! It's my web alias!!
I recommend you register both of them if you have enough budget for that. Just consider them as subject of investment.
I think domain names has little use on ranking and SEO. Don't waste your money on buying expensive domain names.
NOT true - having your keyword in your domain is an EXCELLENT start and will save you that little extra work in the future.. But as I said below, it isn't vital..
Computers in the example however in the context of your decisions go for the ed version. If it's that much cheaper with about the same match searches and the word makes as much sense with 'ed' then go for it!
as someone said in one of the posts, it doesn't make much difference. plural form is much better looking than the 'ed' version.
