I have a couple of requirements..

-Must be able to accept paypal without it being linked to a bank account
-Must have free or cheap WHOIS protection
-Must be a well known site, not your godaddy reseller.

    Thanks.

Me I use Godaddy.com for all my domain. I just have one domain on 1and1 and it's very slow to have your domain there but very cheap price.

I heard some bad thing on others boards for Godaddy.com. What you think about Godaddy.com guys?

    Best Regards

For this I would use www.name.com as you don't have to link your Paypal to a bank account :)

I have quite few domains there and for me $6.99 is cheap. Free domain privacy. Auto renew. My main complaint with them is their control panel. It has to be one of the worst. Basically it sucks and I probably complain every two months.
