Hi, The .com name is taken, so I was going to buy the .org (.net is also available). Would it be better to buy the .com domain with hypens in the name (www.100-blue-balloons.com), or buy the .org one, www.100blueballoons.org? newpatch
Mmm...,I think that 100-blue-balloons dot com is better. Look at dashes, I just ever read a reference on the web who said that if a domain is more than 1 word, it's better to include Dash between...
Depends for your purpose... If it's an organization or a group or something special that is being done, then .org I would definitely recommend. But honestly, I would think of another domain name that can be available with .com
Google dont actually care about the extension much. And hypens is not SEO friendly. So, i will prefer the second one which is without hypens
Thanks for all your suggestions... The keyword that I want to focus on is similar to the one I mentioned 100 blue balloons, I can choose a different domain name, but there wasn't any to choose from in the niche I was researching. I would have to pick another niche and start my research over again...which is fine if this one doesn't work out. MNF says: 1000 Local search, 1300 global, exact phrase 1,270,00, ad cost .61, mob 0, soc 3, for my keyword with .org & .net available. If I google this term 3 webistes on the 1st page has a PR of 0, 1-n/a, and 3 websites with PR-3. Now, there's another 3 character keyword in the same niche that has .com, .net, and .org available. 1300 local searches, 25,000 exact phrase count, 1.16 ad cost, MOB 0, SOC 41. When I google this, 1 website has pr of 0, 2 say n/a, 5 websites have a PR of 2. Seems like this second keyword might be better since .com is available...Also, when using MNF has anyone seem it where MNF says the SOC is green, like 50 or below, and then you google the keyword. The first page now says that all the website has a PR of 4 and above? Indicating strong competition.. newpatch
.com is generally easier to rank for but it is not too much harder to rank the others. If you are branding I would stick with a dot com >>> 100-blueballoons
You should aviod too many hyphen in domain name like a plaque. I would suggest you to go for .net or .org domain instead. If you ever take a look at many sites with too many hyphen in domain name (3+) just for "keyword in domain" purpose, most of them are garbage sites and many peoples tend to avoid visiting at them too.
