Which domain name do you prefer?

Need your advice on picking the best domain.
I have these three domains and I want to build only one site:
    • investment-hyip.info
    • mikeinvest.com
    • real-hyip.info
The site is about online investments, HYIP, high yield investment programs, it will include program reviews, articles and a directory of featured sites.
How much influence do the keywords in domain have , or is it better just to choose the shortest domain, easiest to remember?
So which one do you prefer? ;)

    thanks, Mike

Of those three, I'd choose mikeinvest.com.

I prefer the first one (investment-hyip.info) since the domain itself clearly states that the website is about investment, and specifically it is for HYIP.
However, if you wish to expand your website some time later (eg by talking by other kinds of investments too), this domain becomes inaccurate and a burden to your website.

You expressed my thoughts exactly ;)
I was thinking too, that mikeinvest is better to expand the site later and I was planning to talk about share market, mutual fund etc. later, so I like this one too, but when there is another question: should I add a /HYIP directory then or just upload the site to the main directory.
I like investment-hyip.info too, but it's .info, so I'm afraid visitors won't remember it right after the first visit.

Besides I was thinking of buying another domain for this site, I've found few expired domains at domainsbot.com:
    • hyip-site.com
    • infohyip.com
    • hyip-rating.com
    • all-hyip.com

May be I'll pick one of those, if they stil be available after this post LOL

    What do you think?

So have you bought mikeinvest already?

I tihnk this is a good idea.
Alternatively, you may wish to set subdomains or addon domains as well. So when people type something like hyip.mikeinvest.com
It is simliar to Yahoo which uses the same technique (eg mail.yahoo.com ; search.yahoo.com)

The problem may be lessened as:
    - people don't even remember your website. They simply bookmark it ;P
    - also you can offer a convenient way to help users to bookmark your link (eg when a user click on your "bookmark us" link, it will bookmark your link)
    - you may try to emphasise it is *info (eg create a flash animation and logo for your doamin names)

If you are still uncomfortable, the best bits are to register with *.com . You may try to change your domain name a bit, so you can workaorund and register with *.com .

Did you say you don't wish to confined yourself to a specific topic?
If it is so, you shouldn't choose any of them.

    How about:
    mike-invest.com
    mikeinvesting.com
    mike-investing.com
    mikeinvestment.com
    mike-investment.com

    What do you think?

Sounds very friendly indeed, great idea vBMechanic! :D
The problem is I don't know hat to do with it.. It's longer and harder to remember, but Ill probably grab it too.

Well, I've decided to choose MikeInvest.com and I'll add a HYIP subdirectory to it.
So it will loke like this: hyip.mikeinvest.com - hope it's not too long.
I've purchased all the domains I'm talking about here, so I don't know what to with them now. I'm thinking of redirecting few of them to hyip.mikeinvest.com . Is it a good idea?

Yeah, and thanks for help guys, I wouldn't come to the right (hopefully  ) decision without you.

I'd get mikeinvest.com for your personal opinion/blog on investment matters and investment-hyip.com for the business side of things.

You'd be unlikely to sell mikeinvest.com as a going concern in the future but you could sell a business with investment-hyip.com as the domain, no problem.

Interesting thoughts, Sarah, thanks for sharing ;)
Well, the site was planned as an investment guide (if you have some spare time, you can even surf in and read few articles, but I don't insist :) ).
Mostly short term, high yield invesments, with relatively low risk (relatively to the industry), I'm not planning to sell it, at least not now.
Also, unfortunately hyip-investment.com was already taken, so I only have hyip-investment.info - that's a big difference, nevertheless, I'm going to use them both.

    That's a good idea.
So your MikeInvest.com is your main site where you can expand to talk about every kind of investment by adding a subdomain, eg:
    InvestmentA.MikeInvest.com
    InvestmentB.MikeInvest.com
    InvestmentC.MikeInvest.com

It's well structured in my opinion. :D

    What domains have you purchased?
