Which domain is better for SEO?

For example: Lets say I wanted to start a site about bad breath with affiliate links leading to products that would treat bad breath.

BadBreath.com is taken, but BadBreath.net and .org are available.

    Bad-Breath.com is also available.

I have heard that .org's are good for SEO and I've also heard that domains with a dash aren't so bad either, so I'm stuck now and don't know which domain to go with.

Which domain will be better for SEO?

.net? .org? or .com with a dash?

Appreciate any help that is given.

google will see bad-breath as 2 words and it will bring up more results when you search. imo you should go with .net or with the .com with -

    Not particularly rsek.

Google gives authority to coms and nets
ORGs are usually for Opensource Projects
EDUs and GOVs are authority pages

    thats the break down
go head with any domain ya want, but link back to it with the right words.
You'll do fine with it ;)

Yea i have to agree with Gnet, Coms and nets are the way to go, i would prefer the - especialy since people would be searching for two words (bad breath) and not badbreath.

.com's are preferred by customers, but search engines don't care at all. .org's are good if you want to establish your site as a reference or library of resources in your field. Use dashes only if you have to, but it doesn't make that much difference. People prefer sites without them, and ultimately people are the ones who will link to your site, and inbound links are the single most important factor in your search engine success.

I agree that search engines don't care if you use .com, .net, or .org, but customers do. I think it helps a lot if they see a .com, it tells them much about the credibility of the company.

But using hyphens in a domain is NOT recommended in SEO. Consider adding another keyword to your domain, say for example, badbreathsolutions.com or fightbadbreath.com, badbreathinfo.com or something like that. :D

Please forget about using the hyphen, if you are successful you'll only end up regretting it down the line and have to negotiate the purchase of the non hyphen.
TLD's like org/com/net are all fine for organic serps.
