I've got 2 main keywords for my website which is about mobile phones, let's suppose they are called "aplications" and "Samsung". The domain name samsungaplications.com is already taken, so I can't use it, but these are avaible:
    samsung-aplicatios.com and samsungaplicatiosforfree.com
Which one of those two is the best for SEO?

    Hi

Domaining is when you register a domain, or buy a domain on the seondary market, with the intention of deriving traffic, and turning that traffic into revenue. Traffic comes from type in traffic. i.e. people type a keyword into the address bar and add .com on the end. Domains can be valuable internet real estate, because, unlike a search engine, there is no middleman between you and the visitor. A lucrative pursuit, if you choose the right names.

    Thanks and regards

i don't feel like these phrases are large enough to build a domain around unless you have the exact match, I'd personally pick a better tld about mobile phones and make a sub section about applications for the samsung...with the exact keywords in the sub-page url. Than seo it it and you'll have a much better site to build upon for the long term, rather than potentially spending alot of effort on a shallow site only to hit a plateau.

Thanks a lot all of you! You're right, I'll choose the second one, so I'll cover more keywords:), the only disadvantage is that it's very difficult to remember long domains, but however I prefer to do better in SEO. THanks a lot again!

samsungaplicatiosforfree.com is the best out of the two but freesamsungapplications.com or freesamsungapps are better because they don't have the connective "for" in it.

joshvelco, you're right, my URL would be (in Spanish) somehing like this: samsungaplicacionesgratis.com
It's a litle bit too long but it's OK, thanks again all of you. But one lastquestion: Would I have any legal problem in adding names of companies in my domain suchas "Samsung" "Movistar" etc?

I'd say 'samsungapplicationsguide.com', contact them who owns samsungapplciations.com and see how much they charge. in the long run, it may be better just to pay a couple hundred for it.

    samsungaplicatiosforfree.com is better than samsung-aplicatios.com
However, if you can get samsungaplicatios.com, or samsungaplicatio.com, then it will be best

If your goal is to target the #1 position for the "Samsung applications" keyword then I suggest you go for the first one as it is more exact than he 2nd one. By the way, have you checked if the SamsungApplications.net and SamsungApplications.org available?

What keyword research have you done? what is your base keyword? this is what will be important. but either of the domains you posted would be ok with the keywords you posted.

i think the second one is better since the keywords there are sure to drive more traffic. i also heard that hyphens are not that good since it wont pass the "radio test" (when you're telling others over the radio or wherever it's hard coz you still need to say the hyphen as well).

The 2nd one is very long and hard to remember but it does cover more keywords, the first one is more specific with its keywords and its easier to remember.

I could not agree more... I think that a lot of people forget that if they put a specific brand in the domain name it will be much more difficult to grow into other brands and incorporate into the same domain. I too recommend the second option but WITHOUT the samsung and maybe something like phoneapplicationsforfree or something along that line.

TRUE. But remember that for SEO purposes, keyword in domain is helpful BUT NOT a necessity. If you optimize adequately it does not matter the KW or the length, you will be able to place well...

HHMMMM.... I never thought about that... My wife's blog actually has the number 4 as a connective word and it has not been detrimental with regards to SERPS and PR...

Thank you all of you for your great answers, I really appiciate your responses, but I'll finally won't purchase that domain. I was thinking about making a website with free downloads of aplications for the Samsung Omnia, but that goes against google adsense's TOS (the ilegal downloads), so finally I think that I won't be able to create a website about mobile phones...
Anyway, thank you all, I've learnt something valuable.
