Hey, im gonna start a personal/photography blog which will develop into a portfolio also as i develop it. Which of these domains better suits it? www.BMDavies.com or www.BenMDavies.com (My names Ben Matthew Davies) Thanks, Ben.
Hi, Are you asking which is most likely to be found? If so, it probably won't matter, as people only usually search for famous names. People are more likely to find your site by searching for what's in your site content - headers, text, links, etc. If you want the domain name to help you get found, you might be better to include the word photography (or your specialism) in the name - BenDaviesPhotography.com, for example. It looks you decided on benmdavies.com. bmdavies.com is parked as I type. You may want to redirect bmdaviies.com to benmdavies.com.
I agree but personally I would drop the m. Adword search tool will give search result for any key word phrase. Lol I just bought the domains. You wanna buy them? kidding
I think benmdavies.com. would be better . Well if it is personal blog then that would be a better idea.
BenMDavis.com is a better name IMO. I was in the same boat but finally I acquired Adamsblog.com which I'm planning to develop this 2011. Good luck.
According to me,BMDavies.com is better than www.BenMDavies.com because BMDavies.com is short name than BenMDavies and short name looks good
I'd suggest you to go with www.BMDavies.com presonal blog domain should NOT be long else it's not a blog Good luck.
You need to brand yourself on the net and I would stay cinsistant with the name. I would use Ben-Davies-Photography.com
Thanks guys, but this is more of a personal portfolio compared to a go out advertise my services portfolio. Will look into other domains when I need a portfolio to look for work. Thanks for all your help
Personally I would recommend in this order: Ben.com, FirstnameLastname.com. I wouldn't ever register a domain name with your middle initial in it. Chances are that it will confuse people and throw website visitors off. After all most people always type in .com before they realize that's not the only extension on the internet.
Fair point. However, this particular site is more of a blog for myself - to have a personal portfolio of some of my work. If i were to make a portfolio intended to make me money (aka. sell my services) I for starters wouldn't even consider using my second name due to the different ways you can spell it (davies, davis). Is just nice to have a personal domain for me to use for a random blog/storage of some files if needed. Ben
I much prefer BenMDavies.com. Its important they know your first and last name. Just make sure in your logo you show the M is your middle initial.
