Hi, I want to develop a site, however, .com, .net, .org, .biz and .us of that domain is taken. I have .info for past 3 years. I also see that .in is also available for registration. Now I am a bit confused, which extension sounds better, .in or .info Thanks in advance for you help...
Is .in can only be taken by Indians? Interestingly, .eu, .de, .ca, .tv, .co.uk and .com.au of that domain is also taken, but .us is available... So I have now choice amongst: .in .info (I already own this for last 3 years) .us .name Why I thought of .in is because at least its smaller than .info Now which one to choose, its quite confusing.
Don't register .in if it has nothing to do with India or you're not from India. If you are US based, .us would be an option.
Thanks, my site would be a blog and has got nothing to do with India though. I wont mind paying more for the domain.. My only worry in using .info is that its cheaper
The .info is only cheap for the first year after that it is almost the same price as the .com domain names when it comes up for renewal. Although the .in domain names can be registered by almost anyone, it still is pretty much linked to India and if you are not targetting India or from India, it is best not to use it.
Use ccTLD only if your blog is related to that country (so .us if your blog deals with USA, .in if your blog deals with India, and so...). If your blog isn't related to a particular country go straight with the .info, no doubt ! Regards
I would go with .info, .us. and .name ... there are so many extensions but it isn't necessary to buy them all
why not a good old .com the price difference between .info and .in is huge. You can buy almost 15 .info at the price of one .in so make your choice.. ..:: Peace ::.. Jeba
Read my first post: All .com, .net, .org, .biz, .co.uk, .com.au and other ccTLD have been taken... I am only left with either .info or .in
As you said the .com is taken. If i were you i would search more for an alternate name, but would definitely stick to a .com Lets say u develop ur site and it goes places. still the valuation of your site would depend greatly whether its a .com as thats what comes naturally to users. Stick to a .com even if it means selecting a less suitable name. Rohan.
Foget about .name, it's the crappiest extention ever. Are you targeting people in India that you need a .in? If not, I would definately pick a .info over .in if you were deciding between the 2. If it's an informational site, the .info extention fits it very well.
It depends upon the name of the domain as well, does it match with your domain name, e.g. doma.in is far better than doma.info
I'd say get a .in - its short and the LLL.in's are said to become highly valuable in the near future. Name.com offer then for 14$ to all non-indian residents. www.RKO.in - easily memorable. You can also buy .co.in which has a nice ring to it.
