this is the best representation of how it goes I've seen so far seriously get the .org.... .Com .Net .Org...nothing else really matters too much
I thnik the best is .com , but as u mentioned if u fail to get a .com or a .net then go for .org or a .eu domain in case you dont want to project ur seldas an organisation. You can have a look at the cheapest rates of .eu and .org domains at : internet.bs/domain_names_usd.html . Which is a premier Domain registrar.
You can safely go for the org extension. Infact ,you need not worry about the extension too much as you are looking to develop a site rather than park it and make money out of it. ARonald
Hey guys..... I searched for more domains.. and I got another one which is a .NET and contains only 6 characters... the latter one contained numbers and apha... the new one i got is very easy to pronounce and as well as its a TOP Keyword.. it has got a result of over 400 Million... Still its .net is available.. so most probably i will choose this one.......... and infact I think the .net version of this domain is even better than its .COM
I wouldn't go for the .info that much as they're the least used ones hence least expensive. An .org adds more value to your site in my opinion. Here's a place you can get an .org for $5.95 http://www.internet.bs/ (not my site).
Read the above post... I am planning to go for another .net which is real short... just 6 characters... that too without any hyphens or numbers
And yes am looking for a .com too so that if i get one i will drop that info domain as well as the .net domain......
Seriously, a .com is the best by a long mile. If your project means a lot to you, it's better to just buy a .com from someone. If you settle for an inferior extension, you might regret it one year from now. Although many .com extensions are taken, there are many .com that are selling for < $100. I don't see a problem there... Don't just look at the DP forum, there are many places you can get good deals...two I know are 1) Namecheap marketplace 2) Dynadot marketplace I don't understand why people try to save and scrimp when it comes to your site foundation, your domain. As long as its not out of your budget, go buy a .com
