Which domain extension would you prefer if .com is already taken?

    Hi,

    Assuming DigitalMarketing.com* is already taken. [just an example domain name]
    would you go for DigitalMarketing.net or prefer some other extension?

    Problem is...
    DigitalMarketing.com, DigitalMarketing.com.au have a similar business.
    If I take DigitalMarketing.net... it will look like another similar business.
    Every marketing effort may benefit DigitalMarketing.com.

    How about .online .cc ?

    I like the business name but don't think that .net will create some personalized effect as compared to .com. I'm a solo freelancer whereas .com and .com.au owners are agencies.

    Your suggestions, please.

    .online definitely has a better ring and also more specific to the category your website is in. Digital marketing is about online branding and marketing finally so I think you should go for it and be more relevant so that it clicks with the people as well.

    .Net is a very old gTLD and also not specific to your category. You might also want to try others like .IO or if you want to still be more relevant you can go for a .Marketing TLD as well. you can do www.digital.marketing and check if you like it.

    I believe .Marketing is available on BigRock at a neat price. Renewals too are not high with BigRock.

    There is domain name extension like
    .co
    Sounds good but at some extend that could be misleading with .com and partially potential traffic can be lost.
    But if I were you I would change domain name itself.
    Reason: a lot of people use .COM domain name extension by default.
    When you say go to DigitalMarketing and check, you (or someone else) will use DigitalMarketing.COM
    when you say go to Apple - apple.com wll be used.
    So if you have DigitalMarketing.net, that might still direct some users to DigitalMarketing.COM.
    But if you have (for example) onlinemarketing.COM that would be better.
