Anything works, Content is major factor. Things like extensions is not a factor. Having the correct file name is also advicable
Exactly. The search engines do not care what language your site is written in, since it all outputs HTML in the end, anyway.
PHP with mod_rewirte (.htaccess) works like a charm. Example: http://www.web-cms.us/type/Forum.html looks like a html page, but its not.
As far as SEO is concern we used to say that "Content is the King" so their is no much importance of HTML ASP PHP
I don't think there is much difference between them. For SEO we believe that content is the king so if u got a very unique good quality content in our site then it doesn't matter wither the site is in html, asp, or php
