I voted for desktop, because I don't regularly travel a lot. The laptop I've been using for a year now has stayed put in my house the whole time. I also like gaming, so desktops are always better for that ;)

I love my laptop immensley and these days, I only really use my laptop, partially because my desktop is still lacking several pieces, because I haven't got around to plugging the HD's back in... however I do miss using my desktop, just because it was more powerful... and had a 64bit CPU, which is something I love...
So I'm kind of undecided, a laptop is definetly more convinient, but maybe not as good as a desktop.

Your laptop has 2GB of RAM and 512MB of RAM? *ahem*

Anyway, I prefer notebooks (laptops) primarily because of portability. I can take my laptop anywhere --- to a public location with broadband, because they haven't extended it onto this one street in town, when I travel and I can use it in different parts of the house. I think it gives you more freedom -- if I'm in the mood to use it in the living room, I'll use it there. If I want some privacy, I can move it into my bedroom easily and quickly.

Unfortunately for me, since I'm connected to the Internet via a dialup connection, I must have the dialup cord sticking out of the right side of it at all times, along with the power cord, so that takes away some portability. My laptop does have an ethernet broadband port and wireless internet too.

Desktops are better in some ways though. For gamers and power users, you can upgrade much more easily, even though my laptop has a convenient way to install new RAM and a new hard drive --- you just take screws out on the bottom, not removing the entire case or anything, rather than going under the keyboard or whatever; but in the end desktops are usually more powerful and easier to upgrade.

I have always wanted a laptop, I never need to take it anywhere so I just stick to my desktop.
I like desktops because you can upgrade graphic cards and such. I will eventully get a notebook, even if they only place I take it to is the porch.

between an uber juiced up desktop and a high performance laptop, i'll take a laptop..as long as i get to use a wireless mouse

My brand new lenovo t60 came today with
    2 gig ram
    100 gb
    core 2 duo 1.83 ghz
    fingerprint reader
    ultra mobile
everything else you can think of

looking similar to cheap seo services...but more mobile (14" screen)

If I bought a new LT tomorrow it would def. be more compact...this 17WS is great but I need an engine hoist to move it on and off my lap!
