Hello guys, i want to try submit to directory. hope it will help me to increase my traffic. i want to know, which would you choose? submit to yahoo or submit to alive + aviva? which is directory that bring the most traffic? please your experience? thanks.
I've submitted to all three, but I really liked Yahoo! Although, Aviva and Alive have better owners... Yahoo!'s directory doesn't send any direct traffic, just SEO benefits.
bring traffic? if that's the question, you have to choose the niche and the top niched as well. Otherwise, i'm afraid very little traffic you may get from directory. Submit to Yahoo and then the two big one i.e. aviva and alive
Thanks for all responses. so the first step is submit to yahoo directory and then the others, right? I understand now, if i submit to directory...i will get little traffic direct from directory, but i will get the most traffic from SE like Google because "submit to directory" will increase my ranking in SE, right? the last questions is, after i submit to yahoo directory, do i need submit to other free directories like this http://www.theadminzone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23968 (Submit to directories section) ? Thanks a lot.
If you can afford yahoo, don't hesitate. just my opinion, a link from 2yi.net for $10 permanent I think is much better than alive or aviva. I also like dirspace and clush. yahoo is the best, I submitted 1 site now I have like 8 listings in different categories of dir.yahoo.com and same listings for ca.dir.yahoo.com au.dir uk.dir.yahoo .... really worth the money
Traffic from directories is subjective however if somone submits with some value added anchor text which is keyword specific to the site subject, and the site full of unique exciting unique content You have to think through the whole submission process that is needed to attract clicks and then when they click through the link you want them to be visiting a sticky site We get a lot of traffic when we construct our submission When we cut n paste and copy a submission we get the same as the amount of time we spent on the submission which is 'put little in, get little out' Which directory would we choose so many to select, we would submit to as many of the top paid directories we could until we had used up our submission budget
I can't believe this. Unless your new to the world, the ODP does not deliver traffic. The most you can get is a TRAFFIC VIOLATION TICKET. You'll get more traffic from FREE Directories.
i don't get any traffic from the dmoz and yahoo directories, i have a lot of web sites in it, rather i get traffic from the small web directories, specially the paid ones, which i have never expected to get traffic from
You don't loose a chance do you-- I think --just submitting to few big directories will not get substantial traffic. They can bring some traffic no doubt--but if someone is looking ofr traffic then there is no alternative but to build tons of links through free/paid/article/press release directories. These tons of backlinks will ultimately take give PR and good SERPs and they will translate into natural traffic.
The traffic from directories promoted around webmasters is useless. Take Alive directory as an example, I am sure 99% of its links come from other directories and webmaster related websites, plus with "alive directory" as anchor text. this enhances its PR but in no way can bring qualified traffic or build its authority. And those who think that a website is an authority for the name of the website are wrong, that only means that you have tons and tons of links with that website name as anchor text. Try to be authority for the keyword your targetting... Finally I think most of the links to alive are sponsored link which means that they expire.... think about it.
Although you may have small point here, alive does rank for the keyword web directory and I believe it's on the first page of google. But anyway, like any other business if you want to stay on top then you will need to keep spending. This is why it is good to have other sources of income if you plan on being a major player in the directory market and if you look at alot of the big players they all have other sources of income which helps with the ongoing promotion of other projects. But to answer the question of this thread, I do not submit to directories for traffic, if I get a few hits then great but that is not my focus when submitting to directories. I submit only for serps and maybe a little pr. As long as a directory can provide my site with those then I will submit to it.
If you have a free directory and are looking for traffic then directories do provide tons of traffic. Otherwise not much traffic except what you get from search engines via directory listings. To answer either alive or Aviva I think it depends on the category and how far away it is from the homepage and how many links are on it.
Unless you have a free directory in a general directory as people use as lists. Or You list in very niche directories.
