When did you pay the $299 to get into the yahoo directory?

It can take some time to have a result in the search engines...many, many factors involved.

I'd remember that with all advertising you are going to find that frequency, quantity and quality apply.

As an example. I had a friend that was trying to promote his horse feed business. He spent about $700 on one 1/4 page add in a local advertiser/paper ONCE.

He never did it again. He complained about how he lost money and never got any return or reply to the add.

What he needed to do was advertise with some frequency and in more than one place. Its the culmination of all the combined advertising and promotion as a whole that keeps you in public view. The same can be said of SEO. The more volume, frequency and quality involved in your promotion and linking as a whole is what is going to boost traffic and SERPS.

Simply buying one listing in one SE Directory is not going to get the job done.

One directory listing wont bring enough improvement in the search engines.

Are you trying to rank for something competitive?

Yahoo! directory is a very trusted in Google's eyes because on each application is manually reviewed by an editor. Before submitting I would always check Google's cache to make sure the category that you want to submit to is actually in Google's index. If not, try looking for another category to submit to.

I'd also look at BOTW and Business.com as well as both are highly trusted.

I saw significant improvement in SERPs for one of my sites a week or two following some directory submissions. However, all those directories were pay-for-review directories. I have not submitted any of my sites to yahoo or BOTW yet but I am positive that those two help a lot when it comes to Google.

One listing in Yahoo is not enough for you to rank well.

Look for some good directories in your niche to focus google on your site. That in combination with the Yahoo link will help quite a bit.

299$ = some 5000 directories submissions, 500 articles, hire some blog commenters, hire some people to make user accounts in forums, etc, etc.... results 1,000 x times bigger than 1 forgotten link in yahoo dir.

tl:dr : yahoo dir is is not worth the price.

Submitting site in yahoo is paid one, dmoz.org is best and free, it took time to approve. You should submit site in rest of the free web directories also. A single directory can not be effective to get ranking. U can get directories from directorycritic dot com , Submit in free directories only.
