Which Directories?

    Hi All,

I have a site selling a pretty unique product, fireworks, to the UK only.

My pages, i beleive are optimised quite well. Im getting first page results for nearly all my keywords on yahoo and msn, however, google is proving that little bit harder.

I'm getting good results for some keywords and poorer for others, infact im sandboxed for the ultimate keyword so I don't actually know what my rating for this would be.

What i want to do now is start spending some time on quality backlinks.

I have a few from other firework sites, but as you can expect this is a unique market.

Can you offer any suggestions to good directories to be in (is yahoo still worth the $200) and also any other ways to get good backlinks.

I look forward to your replies.

Dmoz is good if you can get listed. Search forum for free directories and do a little each day. Do one list at a time and keep track of sites you submited to.

Dmoz is still good, however it won't bring dramatic effect on Google like it used to. Joeant is famous. Of course Yahoo dir is great. Site listed there will be considered as non spam sites and rank higher. Coz those spammers won't pay those big dollars to list their spam sites.

One of our member here is proving a free way to get listed on Yahoo dir. You should check the freebie section.

Many dirs are free. A list can be found here:

    http://info.vilesilencer.com/

Also, you can buy a service in this forum for someone to manually submit to xxxx numbers of dirs.

Free directories are great, but be careful to which you submit too. Some free directories use adsense as a source of revenue and in turn makes their pages appear spammy. They usually have little or no page rank. So basically you are listing for the SERP's only and the only bonus their is anchor text.

Yeah, it's quite hard to find. Spoof? You mean most people don't get the ebook?

It's available there. Some people won't even bother to read. It's somewhere around page 28 of the thread. That guy posted the link for public coz he can't deal with the many PMs. You could go back and search. It's quite legitimate for me.
