Hi, Just a few questions about Directories : 1. Does submitting your site to directories really help your PR or traffic ? 2. Do you have to submit to high PR directories or only directories that are niche (about the same subject as your site) ? 3. I'm guessing getting into DMOZ or paying to get into the Yahoo directory will help if your site does not have any adsense on it, but what about all the other directories out there ? Are there any paid directories that are an absolute must to help a site ? 4. Also, what is the best service to submit your site to ? Thank you.
1.Yes, it does help in PR..moreover it helps in serps which can bring traffic 2.Submit to all directories as you will be submitting in your site related category. 3.Yep, there are alot of strong directories like Alive, Aviva and Sevenseek. 4.I recommend this directory submission service.I use it for my directories and for all my client's sites . -Saad

1. Does submitting your site to directories really help your PR or traffic ? It helps my website with PR and traffic. 2. Do you have to submit to high PR directories or only directories that are niche (about the same subject as your site) ? I sumbit to both
I totally agree - in the short term a good PR backlink or number of good PR backlinks will help your SERPs, in terms of the bigger picture it will help to increase your own site PR (although obviously this takes time). As Saad mentioned, submitting to general directories is good but submitting to a niche directory that relates to the content of your site is even better and is more likely to bring more positive SERPs results and eventually PR. In terms of traffic this is a little more uncontrollable, although if you can get sponsored, high visability links on (again) related topic sites then this will greatly improve your chances of increased and also more targetted traffic. Best of luck.
You can get traffic and PR from submitting to directories. The question is which ones to submit to? PR does not equal traffic so submitting to a high PR site may not bring in the traffic although it may boost your PR. There are many new directories being added all the time, some may grow to become stars whilst others will gather dust. If you have the time but no money then submit to free directories. Look for directories that offer SE friendly links and have good categories, a well themed page is better than a general one. I run a couple of directories and have found that they do pass on good traffic. for example someone searhes google, the directories page shows up and the visitor clicks on the directories listing. The visitor then see's sites about what they have searched for in Google, your site could be one of these, the visitor clicks. As for submission services, I used a service that automatically submits to thousands of sites. I ended up with no traffic or PR from it but hundreds of spam messages daily. Go for a trusted manual/semi auto submission service to hand picked sites, well worth the money.
http://www.myspace.com/ringtoneking I watched the "Shoemoney show" yesterday which had some interesting points about directories.
There is no real answer for that as PR isnt based soley on backlinks (which is obviously the result of submissions). Who counts anyways? I just go through phases of submitting. When i reach a PR10, then ill stop!
Hi, Thanks for the information. I heard that Directory Vault is the best service to submit to directories and blogs etc. They seem to have many different directory submission choices. Anyone see any success based on submissions to them ?
