Which directories should I list my site in?

If a directory is free should I just list my site in it because the more links the better or is there a way to choose between free directories?

    Thanks.

Yeah, as long as it doesn't take up too much of your time you might as well list. Google won't give you much credit for a link from a spammy-looking directory, but it definitely can't hurt you.

I don't think there's much of a science to it. You can check the PR of the directory and just take a look around to see if it looks legitimate.

You could look at directory critic, which has free directories listed by PR and by niche. I would seriously look at listing in the directories that are optimised for your niche first!

I beg to differ about too many directory links not hurting you. It could weaken your overall link profile and possibly penalize you if you submit to too many too fast. Only submit to relevant directories and don't anchor text spam. Although pagerank isn't really a huge factor I wouldn't bother with too many 0-1 directories, as google and the other engines may not even crawl their inner pages or take note of the link.

Ok i agree with you but i listen that page rank is very effective on our site if submitted sites have good pr then more chance to improve our site pr and keywords positions.

I personally think if the proportion that this has in relation to your other link building is too high then it may be a problem.

    >>What you should look into a free directory:
    1) directory is free and not asking for a reciprocal link.
    2) better if the directory has got some pr.
    3) should not be one with tons of spamy links
    4) Should have relevant category
    5) should be human edited not automated
    6) try finding directories with different ips
    7) submit to newly launched directories too, which are free and non reciprocal
    8) submit your link with a normal speed and manually, 200 to 300 submissions in a day do not harm, coz not all the links get approved in one day, it takes time and it becomes slow autoamatically, also google do not index all the approved links in one day so that is not a problem if you submit in bulk. (people may different opinion on this)
    8) Try finding some regional directories too out of those free directories and submit your link therein.

    I hope this helps..

Directory links is not more better for sites. only few directory index.. most of not.. if you want to promote your site then you can choose other way to build links like, theme base links, forum posting, blog commenting, web 2.0, and article submissions.. don't forget to do blog posting.. it's better way to get traffic and back links..

How many directories should I submit my site to per day?

And should the field title just be the title of my page or should I put some keywords in it.

You should list your site in high PR website with Do-follow attribute and also do not forget your niche.
