    Hello....

    Answer = None, zero, zilch, nada, 0

    A directory that gets "banned" has no effect on your site other then the
    link isnt counted until it comes back into their index.

    Maybe a better question would be.....

    How many directories will review my site and accept it

    no directories can get you banned, Just avoid submissions to spammy directories for better results :)

    If submitting to directories could get you banned, businesses would be doing that to their competitors.

    Links to your site won't hurt you. However, be careful who you link to. Don't link back to any site if you have questions about it.

    Ditto. I'm on a weird situation right now simply because i asked for a huge submission and that idiot made a automatic one, and the result was: banned form google index.

    Directories you may be linking to may be of a completely theme than your site - in this case you may be penalized for being irrelevant

    Submitting to directories will not get you banned. Just don't join those link exchange farms, google doesn't like that.
