I'm designing a website for both teens and adults and I was contemplating what layout and design to use. The two possible ideas I am thinking of using is 1. www.gametrac.com + 2. www.spoono.com . Please tell me which you prefer and if you know any sites that are similar to these ones that I could look at.

    Easy- gametrac.com

A lot of sites look like that (apple.com).

    I like choice #1: gametrac.com

Off the top of my head I can't think of any similar sites.

Gametrack, hands down BUT it takes way to long to load over 45.2. As a user if I clicked on link, I would not wait for it to load. Way before it loaded I would have gone back to Google and viewed several of your competitors pages. I like the look but not the load time.

Yeah, the flash loading is slow on that site.

Spoono is mostly HTML/CSS, whereas gizmondo is just a mess of flash and nested tables. Even on broadband gizmondo takes ages to load, so I'd go for something like Spoono out of those two - although of course you shouldn't just copy the design. :)

But you can get same feel without the flash. Just use a jpg for main image etc. Design is quite pleasing to me.

Look at http://www.seo-guy.com/ . Don't know how he does it but his site has annimitation and the load time is nothing like load time of first site. If I wanted look of first site I would try to learn from seo-buy's site.

You say Rob that you know or have seen a lot of sites that look like that, apart from Apple, do you remember any others?
P.S Do you think the Spoono site would be slightly off-putting for a kid of around 12-13? Please all vote in the poll!

wingdude, I can't think of any specific sites off-hand. But there are a lot of templates that resemble that layout.

    http://www.templatemonster.com/flash-templates/7533.html
    http://www.templatemonster.com/flash-templates/7528.html

coolhomepages.com has some pretty cool designs. It may give you some ideas.

I don't know much about the browsing perferences and habits of young kids. But that spoono site just seems too cluttered and kind of harsh looking.

Gametrac would be my choice. Very clean design.

    Good luck!

Gametrac and Spoono took way too long to download the graphics. I clicked out before it all loaded.

bbc.co.uk/cbbc loaded pretty fast, but maybe because I didn't have the plugin.

No DSL or cable here! :(

Thats an extremely random post paymentapprovedtooslow. Can you not do that!! Anyways, I think the BBC sites are quite good, my aim in this poll is to work out what the general taste is of web designers.
