Which design is better or more attractive?

I have these 2 websites that me and my partner made. We are going to use the layout and colour scheme for a new project. I would like your opinions on which website design is more professional for a financial related website.
    Thanks.

    I personally don't like either.

Too plain, not much that sets them apart from other sites.

Both look like from year 1995.

I would definately find something better. Try Buy/Sell section. There are occasionally templates that are cheap and pretty nice.

I like the first one better. However, I would center it.

Awful. Honestly this is from the stone age. Improve upon your skills and buy yourself Photoshop.
They do indeed leave a lot to be desired.

I don't agree how people are so harsh here! Yes the sites can use some improvement but thats why your here jeez

I like the first one more, it seems more like it would be made by a professional. However it still does seem plain. Do what i did, go to well established sites similar in category to yours, and study their deisgns. Study what you find effective about them, and brainstorm about how you can make your site effective in that area too. Don't copy though! It seems with some basic formatting and color changes, your first site has alot of potential ;)

The second site, although I admit that i havent even checked out the content on it. The design needs some more significant changes than your first one. It seems you are adding effects just for the heck of it. Although that may sometimes work out, most of the time it doesn't. Good designers add effects strictly to serve a purpose. It helps their design to be less bloated with effects and intern makes their sites seem as the epitome of professionalism.

Keep it up man, study designs, study colors, looking forward to updates ;)

    glad to help

just a couple things you can do for the first site ...
get rid of the weird gaps on the top and bottom of the sidebar
    add a footer
    add a header
either center it or align it to the left, but now its like ... kinda floating somewhere near the left

I don't like either, the first is too empty and some bad color choices/font choices... the second... ug... you used tables that don't align properly so it looks screwed up, terrible font choices again, and things that end abruptly make it very unappealing.

With a splash of colour, the first design could be quite nice. Good luck, try not to take some of the comments on this thread to heart...

The first one over the second one, then again, both aren't very good.

I know why the sites aren't very good. ITS BECAUSE I HATE DESIGNING! I had a bad experience once. I was using dreamweaver and had a site I just loved. It was for a project a smallbiz hired me to do. The laptop got destroyed and I lost almost a weeks worth of work. Since then I have just done half ass design and affiliate marketing.
Overal I feel the concensus is that the 1st one is preferable. Thats the one my partner made. I made the second one.

The bottom line is that flashy graphics and navbars are BAD FOR SEO!
I do appreciate all your advice. Thank you
