wait, so I'm a racist now for making a 7-11 joke, but he isn't racist against Americans/America for calling us ruthless killers?

    for the record, I worked at 7-11 when I was 17 :p

    I will say this.

An informal survey of 3 "convenient stores" located near my home in the Cleveland, Ohio USA area - not 7-11, but generic convenience stores

    2) Indians
    1) Pakastani

Not scientific, of course...but food for thought!

It's "unscientific" to be sure. But I notice most of the posts here don't have much scientific precision, so I joined the crowd :)

But sometime's there really is truth in stereotyping. If there weren't, no one would possibly laugh at the humor. You wouldn't "get it".

Almost every Day's Inn I ever stayed at had a man named Haj behind the counter, too. Co-incidence or conspiracy? You decide.

indeed I think there is. "Stereo typing" is a new ACLU keyword for racism... however it is just human nature to stereo type.

Who would feel comfortable walking through Compton at 1am vs. Beverly Hills? it is nothing more than survival instinct based on experiences.

is it wrong? mostly no, but in some cases it can be.. an example would be "he is black and wearing hip-hop clothing. He must be a theif or murderer"

but for the most part, stereo-typing, again, is just our minds way of picking out the nuances we observe, and applying them.

No, you're not a racist. This is what Matt does. When he can't appreciate a good joke, he'll use the racist card. It's failed him numerous times, but he really doesn't have any other angle.

Now, if you had chose Christians or Jews for your joke, he'd have been all over it.

Stereotyping relies on the acceptance of generalities.

The generalities are usually broad, but almost all will have some basis in reality, based on people's observances.

Are there a lot of rich Jews? How about any cheap ones? I knew a few. Yes, I knew an African American guy who was really good at basketball, and he could dance well too.

Does this apply to ALL people? No. But to deny some of these easily identifiable traits exist is insane.

And if you don't agree with me... I'll kill you. Because I'm American.

So you are a Nazi, that likes to Drink a lot, who probably uses a lot of Windex, who rarely associates with other races except yourself.

Now how's that for a set of stereotypes:rolleyes:
