I am trying to figure out exactly which countries purchase from the different Amazon stores. So for Amazon.com it is obviously USA but what about other countries like Australia? Do they purchase from Amazon.com? And European countries - Germany and France have their own Amazon but what about the rest. Do they use Amazon.co.uk? It is useful to know as I am implementing a script to relocate visitors depending on where they are from. Or at least I want to tell the visitors which aStore to visit.
Everyone can purchase from Amazon.com. Money is universal and is converted for international sales. Most people outside of the U.S. are used to seeing "USD", and understand that they have to allow for conversions. Obviously, the different extensions are geared towards the corresponding countries.,but remember...they are also in that language.
Thanks hmansfield. From other research it appears that people will just use whichever one feels natural. So the Australians might use UK or USA. I guess for them it is just a case of giving them the option.
..and there may be some product differences that are regional to that country, especially music, but if your audience is English speaking, (meaning your our blog or website is in English), I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless, like I said, you are looking for specific products from specific regions.
