None another then Dell is the best brand.

I have a problem with the phrase "best laptop", it's like saying "best car". People's perception of a product is a reflection of their desires; people tend to hype what suites them the most. I would advice to choose a laptop that best suites you. Each of these laptops, be it HP, Dell, Toshiba, Acer etc are good in their unique ways, I wouldnt regard one over the other. So, choose functionality and not brand name.

Well, It all depends on your range of investment.
In Generals,

I would prefer IBM and Toshiba over all other brands.
1- IBM
2- Toshiba
3- Dell
4- HP
5- Compaq
6- Acer

and so on!

Toshiba and IBM are more sustainable and Tough body laptops with good battery life and good processing.
Processing speed isn't any matter anymore, Because all of the companies use same sort of processors and other hardware. Its all about Good finishing and reliable battery life. IBM and Toshiba FTW! Hope it helps.

good thread. im thinking of buying a new laptop next month when i saved enough cash. most of you guys says dell is the best. ill consider that. but how about other brands like sony? or should i just buy a PC with good specs. what do you guys think?

 

I am using Acer, but i formatted the system and change the window from vista to window7, since then it has been showing window is not genuine, what can i do to get the genuine window without paying

 

try pirate bay maybe they have a cracked windows7 for you to download.

 

I've used HP computers for about 4 years. I hated it. Then again, I'm a power user and they were all basic computing machines. I killed them often, sadly.

Now I only use Sony Vaio laptops. The first one was a Vaio AR my then boyfriend bought me and my current one is a Vaio F series I bought myself a few months ago. I couldn't be happier because it handles 2D (Photoshop), 3D (Maya), Blu-Ray, HD, and gaming smoothly. So I can only go from my experience and say that I'd strongly recommend a Vaio.

On the other hand, it all depends on what you're looking for and what you're budget is. So until you give specifics it's anyone's guess.
