    Usually I just go through whois sites and various other domain tool sites to retrace the name servers and stuff back to a host or datacenter

    You can check the nameserver records of the domain. In general, nameserver records are including domain name of the hosting companies, may be sometimes with different extension.

    You can also check the IP address of the website in whois and can check it as to in which data center the website is hosted.
