If i make a site for my college...would u suggest any CMS to use or completely code it...Free CMSs only.... Please sugegst CMS for this purpose.... pls reply......should i use joomla....
so it's drupal or joomla...both r good in their own ways..i also think....drupal is more straight forward....
I find Drupal harder than Joomla - but thats just me. If you don't know www.opensourcecms.com I'd go there and test the demos, choose one you like - and see if the community is okay. There is not one best CMS. Perhaps if you post specific specifications, it'll be easier to come up with recommendations.
i would use joomla. i have seen a lot fo college sites use it before and it works very well. if seo is an issue then there are a few seo addons for joomla which make it easier to index and rank well.
One thing to note here is that if you are after proper ACLs (being a college site, I would imagine this would be a core prerequisite), it may be better to stay away from Joomla which only supports it via an addon hack. Any future upgrades would cause many headaches. I would seriously recommend you only consider CMS' that offer native ACL support. As already mentioned, www.opensourcecms.com is a good place to check, although I personally use www.cmsmatrix.org .
joomla is more professioanal and flexible than other cms , i recommend joomla , more extensions , more good look and more professional.
Joomla is by far the most professional and flexible than any other. You can add almost any feature possible. I would definitely pick Joomla (and I have).
what do you expect from your cms? in generally , i suggest you to use joomla because you can do whatever you want with joomla. it can be converted everythink and it's completely
I know most everyone is pushing Joomla (this is probably the fastest way for you to get a site up), but if you want to use your own templates, you might want to also consider MODx CMS -> modxcms.com Check out how the Texas A&M English department is using it here: -english.tamu.edu/
wordpress. you only have to strip out the useless stuff ... and it's a doddle to use. did i mention my wordpress cms demo? http://www.simplywordpresscms.com and one that doesn't look like a blog ... http://www.ayurvedicmedicine4u.com - this one we've used the CMS and blog in one site, all one wordpress installation.
