PLEASE STOP WITH THE DRUPAL! There are many other cms you can play with, what are your specific requirements?
Heh.. I have to be honest. Of all CMS I have used(PHP nuke, Joomla, Blogger(blog-cms), Wordpress(blog-cms), Drupal, and a few other minor ones), I have to say that Drupal is the CMS to chose in most cases. It's easy to install, userfriendly, fast, scaleable, feature rich, is very SE-friendly out of the box, has a powerfull admin panel, lots of modules and a nice taxanomy feature.
Hi there, I bought a very good CMS called Sub Dreamer, It was $99 for a years license, and that included 12 month updates and 12 month technical support periods. They have loads of great add-ons as well for it. I don't use it really it is going to be a recommendation for my customers, although I just had to buy it. I will find a purpose to use it. Here is the URL: http://www.subdreamer.com/. I would strongly recommend it if you have the money to spend. Regards, Kieran Taylor.
You could modify PHP-Fusion a little, plus bolt on some of its mods and get that functionality fairly readily. The code behind it's fairly straightforward, I use it for my own site: gaining-mass.com
There is nothing I hate about Drupal, Drupal is a great CMS, I love it. But what I was refering was, he doesn't recommend any software (cms) other than drupal, when depending on the type of website other great cms could be used.
If you are looking for something really simple to use, I would reccomend having a look at www.cmsmadesimple.org It's free, and really easy to install and use. In simplicity it beats both Joomla and Drupal and the others any day. I think you could get it to work with the uploading stuff you are asking about as well. Limiting the access should not be a problem eighter.
Many of the suggesstions given so far are good. But, I would highly recommend that you go to http://www.opensourcecms.com/ They give you a chance to look at the default set up page for a wide range of open source CMSes. Make a list of those that interest you and download them onto a test server and see which ones you can install easily and which make sense to you. Most can be adapted to your needs. But, it is impostant toget started with one which thinks like you think -- or as close as possible.
Hi there, No, why you ask? Does my post sound a bit spammy or something ? No, but seriously it is a good CMS, but if you don't have the money there are plenty of good free/open-source content management systems. Regards, Kieran Taylor.
Joomla! rules, Mambo sucks. I had try a lot of CMS, but now I'm in love with Joomla. Their extensions growing very fast(and a lot of them are free and useful), also the community. I'm waiting for stable 1.5 version.
No, don't get me wrong. It just sounds like you're advertising for them but cheers, thanks for sharing the info.
