I am going to start a website for my city. It will contain a list of "things to do" featuring resteraunts, bars, entertainment, recreation areas, shopping ect ect. It is somewhat of a knockoff of Metromix. I do not use a whole lot of CMS's, but I figured it would be much more efficient to use one for this project. Simple XHTML could work, but would be a pain in the butt. I was thinking of wordpress, but not sure what kinds of FREE plugins would help me create it.

Here is a link to how Metromix works. http://twincities.metromix.com/face...aurants.cuisine.latin_american.south_american

The other catch is I will need it to work with facebook once I create an app. I want people to be able to login through facebook, and then they can add stores, locations, ect. I never made something so complex, so I just want to make sure I get on the right track before I start putting in my long hours.

Wordpress is probably your best bet. There are several free plugins that work with not only Facebook but with other social networking sites as well. For instance, Simple Facebook Connect is a good plugin but would need a little coding to allow the users to login from facebook. Shouldn't take long to write the few lines of code to make it work.

Anyway, if it were me, I would use wordpress.

Thanks for the imput. I have only used Wordpress, so I don't know how it compares to Joomla, Drupal or any other ones. Another option would be more me to just buy some cheap scripts from http://codecanyon.net I've bought small scripts from there before, and I know they have a lot of php scripts that would be useful such as comment and rating systems.
