My company is looking for a CMS solution to handle the following needed features: 1. Handle user-access and privileges across multiple domains, and subdomains. 2. Post different types of content to different domains/subdomains from one back end. 3. Easily customizable themes for different domains/subdomains. 4. Easily manageable plugins/modules (if an open source CMS is the answer) for multiple domains/subdomains. Everything should be managed from one backend. Currently, we use multiple installs of wordpress and it is becoming very difficult to make any changes. Looking for any answers. Thanks!
a custom CMS would be awesome, but then we would also be responsible for building out any new features that an opensource CMS would already have built. and it would cost a ton to build a custom CMS. this is an option, but im just not sure. does anyone have estimates on prices for a custom CMS?
As proxywhereabouts said, you could find some good ones for testing and then hire someone to develop further for your needs the suitable one. And i think you`ll get cheaper this way. For some quotes, just go to a site like www.rentacoder.com or www.getafreelancer.com and post a project about this. You`ll get lots of answers, i can assure you.
Drupal might be worth looking at. It can share one userdatabase between multiple domains via a module (never tried it, though) and one physical installation of the software can also host multiple domains. You'd however still have to log into each website directly in order to post content. There is no "backend" with this CMS, you rather edit pages from the pages themselves.
Drupal is good, but really with going between sites, i would recommend finding a developer who can create a custom CMS... try phpfreaks here: phpfreaks.com/forums
Joomla can do this. You'll have to use some paid components to do it but it will manage it. What size are the sites, how many are there? Anything else you need to accomplish? PM if you would be interested in a quote for putting it all together.
