I am thinking to make an website. It will contain music, celibrity news, games, jobs and some like that..It will contain lot of topics. It will be just like a magazine. Which CMS will be better? Wordpress( with magazine themes), joomla or drupal ?
Since it is more of a community site drupal and joomla are better options. Both are exceptional for community sites and it is hard to choose one over the other.
Hmm.... Wordpress is easier.. but though i am thinking to make a magazine then its better to use drupal.Because it will be a big site.
I agree that there is a learning curve with Drupal but it is worth it and Drupal is very SEO friendly. Btw, check out http://www.mtv.co.uk/ for an example of what is possible using drupal. Petey
I tried using Drupal but end up uninstall it coz I don't understand how to create cron job. Then I switch to using joomla. Yeah..it took me a few days to learn some of the basic things - like how to create menu, mod position etc. Here is an example of websites created using Joomla. www.itwire.com.au and www.mscholars.com.
Joomla is great for almost any type of site. once you understand how categorys work you will be putting up hundreds of pages in no time.
Yes, i knew about it and its really great. But how can i get a design a like that? Can you tell a site to buy great design like mtv.co.uk ?
Hi CashCowBoy, Lullabot are the guys who developed the MTV site (lullabot.com), they seem very friendly so you could approach them directly. Also, check out the drupal showcase forum, from time to time folk post details of how they built their site. The Rake Magazine (www.rakemag.com) posted this very recently http://drupal.org/node/191608. There are also a growing number of 'install and forget' templates at http://drupal.org/project/Themes if you don't fancy doing any coding. HTH
