I am planning to design a download directory. Which CMS you be better for it. I know joomla and will learn Drupal. I dont know about other available CMS. Which would be better to go.
PHPLD is best CMS for a directory site. It contains a customized interface to optimize your directory as you want.
Wordpress is good for blogs and small sites. for big site it would be very difficult to manage. For example take a look at joomla extension directory and wordpress plugin directory.
I have 2 download sites PHPLD powered http://www.yesitsfree.co.uk Joomla powered with Mosets Tree directory component http://www.security4free.com PHPLD is a good directory script from $30 Mosets Tree Joomla component is $115 Differant prices I know but read the licence info for both
Your sites look great. I remember when you were getting them started. And yes, phpLD 4.1 makes it easy to have a file upload feature which is great for running a download site.
I believe for whаt уou аrе wanting to do the catalogues feature (which comeѕ as standard) іn ocPortal will be perfect for you want to do, thеre iѕ alѕо a blog and forum standard feature wіthout needing thіrd party addons. Have а look http://ocportal.com
My primary requirement are one description page, one download page and once clicked on download it should goto another page with option for direct downlink. Much like Softpedia.com I was thinking of joomla as i know to use it. I dont know coding so it will little tough for me to try those all cms. If any of above cms have this all features, than I'll go for it. Tell if those features will be there in them.
Yes, so phpLD 4.1 has file download as one of the submit items. You click the link and you are downloading the file.
