Sure, if your target demographics are 15 year olds... The problem with your logic is that the social network with most people does not necessarily mean that you can convert the most traffic from. This is not just a cluster of people waiting for any new business to pop up just so they can visit. And there are certainly niches that don't find Facebook to be the best media for social communication and popularizing a brand.

Agreed. But the OP has asked about just Facebook and Twitter in his question and I just answered that. And to convert visitors into business leads according to age and demographics Facebook Ads is there. So, you can target what you want. Rest is upto the strategy and Landing page.

 

I vote for both Twitter and Facebook! If you use GOOD hashtags, you can drive hundreds of visitors per day using Social Media sites! Just do NOT spam and make the tweet (or the post!) looks INTEReSTING!
