As far as a Toshiba I would go for a Qosmio ,I wanted a Voodoo PC , but didn't want to spend $5,000.00 so I opted for the closest in performance, Qosimo comes with 8G installed and it's upgradable. I needed to run xampp, do some graphics work, and of course watch movies.

Sony Vaio for sure - My wife owns one and it's been working perfectly for 3 years. I owned an HP and so did my brother. Both HP lap tops were crawling after a year of use, even if they were defraged every month.

Not much help, but I was wondering the same thing. Since getting into IM I've been seriously considering getting a new laptop lately. You asked this at the right time and I'm paying attention to the recommendations here. ;)

HP is the best for me, I have good experience with laptops. If you have enough budget buy a hp pavilion lap, otherwise buy a compaq one.

My budget is INR 45,000 (1250$ Approx)

    I got 2 options now

one from HP and another from Dell

    HP DV6700
    Costs 40,000 INR here (1000$)
Comes with 1GB RAM and very low specs

    and Dell Studio 15
    Costs 45,000 INR here (1250$)
Comes with 3GB RAM and really double the specs of HP DV6700
