Hi friends, I am about to create a blog on my site and I am bit confused whether i should keep it as blog.mysite.co.uk or www.mysite.co.uk/blog/ I am creating this blog to increase the overall strength of my site, as with the blog more and more unique content will be added to my site on regular basis. So people please help me out on which URL structure is better for blogs seo wise, "blog.mysite.co.uk" OR "www.mysite.co.uk/blog/" Thanks in advance to all.
I had this dilemma and decided to go with the www.mydomain.com/blog for the installation. Once it was up and running i added a sub domain via my Cpanel, blog.mydomain.com. Important thing to note. Always link to the same one when creating your backlinks. I link to www.mydomain.com/blog but have the blog.domain.com subdomain as it's easier for people to type in.
So which one of this is seen by crawlers when they come in your site? have they indexed it as blog.mydomain.com or as www.mydomain.com/blog ? please reply. thnx.
mate I want to know why, that's the reason I have started this thread . I want to know which is good and why. thanks
A subdomain isn't necessarily bad, and likewise it isn't necessarily good. Don't be afraid to use a subdomain if your site warrants it, though often a subfolder within the site would be more apt. The problem with a subdomain is that in many ways it acts as a seperate website, so you need to build links to it in its own right, and you can't rely on the age, weight, and strength of the main site to support it. Google is also changing the way it handles subdomains in the search results to act more like subfolders, so where it was previously possible to fill the first 10 places for a search query with your own subdomains, you'll now be restricted to just 2 the same as would be the case if all the content resided in subfolders. The main argument for using a subdomain instead of a subfolder, is if the content is substantially different or unrelated to the content on the main site, and that content is going to be large enough, and attract enough links to stand up in it's own right.
Thanks Seajetseo for your inputs. guys please give me some more inputs from your own experience on this.. thanks in advance
