I tried to put adsense on wordpress, but it didn't work. Do you guys know of any blog site which allows adsense? Thank you, st12
wow guys quite a old thread but related to my questions . so i would like to ask is... i am going to register for my first blog.My intention is to earn out of it.Is it ok if I register with blogger.com and use adence to begin with?
Yeah, its fine... but if your blog start to make some figures you´ll probably not want it hosted on a free service... And moving to a new server is always a pain: broken links, you´ll lost your backlinks, etc...
Am also new to the world of bloggin as well but have found a particular link that may assist with finding the right blog for your particular needs. Do not have url capabilities yet so you will either need to copy and paste or perhaps one of these fine folk in here wouldn't mind readding the link as a url Add a www ojr.org/ojr/images/blog_software_comparison.cfm
I just checked the link and it does validate. You need to copy "www." + "ojr.org/ojr/images/blog_software_comparison.cfm" in order for the link to work. However because I do not have "signature" capabilities I am now allowed to actually paste the completed url If someone would post the link for me it would be greatly appreciated because it does provide a good comparison of the various top blogs out on the market.
As others have noted, if you're new to blogging, Wordpress.com is a good way to get used to the application. You can use that until you get more ambitious with Wordpress and want a personal install where you can do additional customization of your blog. I wasn't floored by the Wordpress.com template selections, but I gather there are more template selections coming. Once you have your own install, there are lots of great Wordpress templates out there, moreso than for Movable Type. I use MT on a lot of my blogs, but the new version (3.0+) is probably not very accessible to new users. Both Blogger and Typepad have had a lot of performance problems lately, so be careful about either of those. And Blogmaster is right on target with his advice. Focus your energy on writing something people want to read. There are lots of great looking designs on unread blogs.
Wordpress was the program I went with as my first bog as well because of all the high recommendations the product received from these forums. Just provided the link to the chart because its nice to visually see a side by side comparison. Personally I think the program was easy to install and integrate into my site. Took a few tries at edding some of the templates but once you get the first one down the rest flow smoothly.....
Wordpress 2.0.1 + Your own hosting account. Then you can do anything you like with your template from yahoo ads to adsense etc. MT has too many templates to have to mess around with. WP2.0.1 cleared many of the bugs that were prevalent in 2.0. Deal with a company that does mainly blog hosting as they tend to have better/more knowledgeable support for blog applications. Be wary as blogs can use a lot of bandwidth up. They can also be at the mercy in terms of speed when it comes to things like 3rd party server plugins such as blogrolls and the ecosystem etc. Your pages will appear slow as it waits for those servers to return hits. Keep your front page short and dont over complicate it by showing your last 500 posts etc.. Be prepared for blog spam. Best one for blocking at the moment is Bad Behaviour. Do not go live with a blog site that has open commenting without some form of spam protection! www.blogs-about.com
